| A 5-frame nucleus colony (NUC) containing drawn comb with a laying queen, eggs, larvae, capped brood, and stored honey and nectar. The NUC is ready to be installed into a full-size hive and should be transferred as soon as possible after pickup to ensure colony health. Before picking up your NUC, prepare your hive equipment and have all necessary tools ready to smoothly move the frames into their new home. |
| Important Information About Your NUC Pickup |
| At Bella’s Hives, we are proud to offer strong, healthy NUCs to help you start or strengthen your hive. Our NUCs come with five frames of drawn comb: two frames will contain honey and nectar, and three frames will have eggs, larvae, and capped brood, along with a healthy, actively laying queen. Cancellations made more than 30 days before the pickup date will incur a 50% cancellation fee. Cancellations within 30 days of the pickup date are non-refundable. Once a NUC is picked up, its care and management become the customer's responsibility, and Bella’s Hives cannot offer refunds, exchanges, or replacements after pickup. NUCs contain live bees and their success depends heavily on how they are transported, installed, and managed afterward. To give your NUC the best start, please transport it carefully, avoid exposure to extreme temperatures, and install it into a full-size hive as soon as possible after pickup. Every queen from Bella’s Hives is marked with a special ink color and pattern; if you experience queen problems within 60 days after pickup, you may bring the queen back alive and we will replace her free of charge. Please make sure to read our Terms and Conditions before placing your order. If a NUC is not picked up on the scheduled date, we may not be able to offer a refund or replacement. |
| Tips for Beginners |
| Starting with a NUC gives you a head start because the bees already have drawn comb, brood, and a laying queen. After pickup, keep the NUC shaded and well-ventilated during transport — bees can quickly overheat without proper airflow, and overheating can cause serious losses. Never leave the NUC in a hot car or in direct sunlight. Install the NUC into a full-size hive as soon as possible, preferably the same day you pick it up. Carefully transfer the frames into the center of your hive box in the same order they were arranged in the NUC. Feed the bees with sugar syrup to support rapid growth, and avoid disturbing the colony too much during the first few weeks. A NUC allows you to watch an established colony grow quickly, giving you a strong beginning to your beekeeping journey. Call us if you need help! |
