May 9 NUC Pickup Instructions
Choose Your Pickup Option
Since everyone has different experience levels and preferences, please choose the pickup option that works best for you:
1. Quick Pickup (under 10 minutes)
We are very flexible and can accommodate times as early as 7 AM and as late as 7 PM.
Please send:
- Your preferred day and time
- Your availability between May 8 and May 10 (or May 11 if you prefer)
Once we confirm your schedule, simply stop by, pick up your NUC, and you’re all set.
2. Beekeeper Chat at Pickup
If you already have some experience, we can:
- Review your setup
- Answer your questions
- Share ideas to improve your beekeeping
Please send your availability between May 8 and May 10 (or May 11 if you prefer), and we reserve a time for a chat when you come.
3. New Beekeepers (Little or No Experience)
If you’re just getting started or want more confidence, you can choose one or both of the following:
(a) One-to-One or Small Group Guidance
- Basic beekeeping guidance
- Equipment selection and setup
- Tailored to your level (beginner or more focused discussion, such as for 2nd-year beekeepers)
You do not need to buy anything. This is simply to help you understand what equipment fits your beekeeping goals.
If you read a beginner beekeeping book beforehand, you will get even more out of this session.
Please send your availability between May 8 and May 10 (or May 11 if you prefer), and we will schedule a time.
(b) Small Group Sessions
- Saturday, May 9 (late afternoon)
- Sunday, May 10 (mid to late afternoon)
During these sessions, we will:
- Review the two most common hive setups (one or two brood boxes)
- Demonstrate how to install a NUC
- Perform a full inspection using a checklist
- Share practical tips and best practices
There will be no live bees during these sessions. These are step-by-step demonstrations of a beekeeper’s routine designed to help build your confidence.
Scheduling Notes
Pickup will be scheduled between May 8 and May 10 (or May 11 if you prefer).
Earlier orders will have priority for earlier pickup times if they wish to pick up sooner (for example, May 8).
While many people prefer the earliest possible pickup, collecting your NUC 2 to 3 days earlier will not make a difference in colony growth. The bees are already well established in the box and will not fly away. We encourage you to use this time to improve your beekeeping knowledge and enjoy the experience.
Additional Information
We do not charge for any beekeeping help info, including the group sessions. Our goal is to support the community and help local beekeepers improve their knowledge, skills, and success in managing their hives. There is no obligation to purchase anything from us.
We will have refreshments available, and you are welcome to bring something for yourself as well. We keep things simple and easygoing.
Children are very welcome, and Bella loves making new friends, but if you can, it’s best to bring someone to watch them while you learn so you can fully focus on the session.
If you know someone interested in starting beekeeping, this is a great opportunity for them to get involved and learn. Feel free to invite them or bring them along.
Next Step
Please contact us with your preferred option(s) and your availability so we can schedule you properly.
Looking forward to meeting you!
May 9 NUCs are sold out. If you need more, we still have availability for May 23.
